Biography
Evelyn Perez Youssoufian brings over 15 years of varied experience to the practice of law. She believes clients need a sound advisor when dealing with legal issues. Her experience, common sense, creativity, and practical approach ensure she provides her clients with the utmost cost-effective legal solutions for their particular situation.
Evelyn has the necessary high standards of commitment, ethics, respect, and care in service delivery to provide the support required by her clients.
Her practice includes civil/commercial, estate, municipal, and real estate litigation; shareholder, partnership and contract disputes; libel and slander defamation; malicious prosecution; and enforcement of foreign judgments.
Evelyn also practices employment law for both employers and employees, handling wrongful and constructive dismissal, notice, severance, human rights issues, workplace violence and harassment, employment standards violations, employment contract disputes, as well as drafting employee termination letters, contracts and policies and guiding employers through all aspects of their employment needs.
Evelyn believes in strong oral and written advocacy. Evelyn is experienced in all levels of the negotiation and litigation process, having appeared at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Superior Court of Justice, the Provincial Court of Justice, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and the Ministry of Labour.
Evelyn is skilled at drafting documents for negotiations, arbitrations, litigation, tribunals, mediations, pre-trial conferences, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
Evelyn is the author and co-author of over a dozen publications, articles and PowerPoint presentations and is repeatedly asked to speak and teach at various conferences. Specifically, Evelyn co-authored two chapters for Juris Publishing, namely “International Liability of Corporate Directors - Canada - 2nd edition” and “Enforcement of Money Judgments - Canada Chapter”. She is also a contributor for Lexis-Nexis Canada’s book entitled “Litigating and Arbitrating Business Disputes”.
Before joining O'Connor MacLeod Hanna LLP, Evelyn articled in Ottawa, and was an associate at three boutique firms: Criminal, Litigation, and Employment law. Evelyn earned her law degrees from Canada (LL.B.) and the United States of America (J.D.) simultaneously in 2004.
Evelyn is fluent in both Spanish and Armenian and is involved in both communities. She is conversational in French.
Evelyn is also on the Board of Directors of the Kerr Street Mission.
Evelyn enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid snowboarder and snorkeler. She enjoys travelling, having visited all continents except Antarctica.
