Biography

Akshay is a member of the Business Law group at O’Connor MacLeod Hanna LLP.

Akshay obtained his law degree from Panjab University, India, and was first called to the bar in India in 2018. Having relocated to Canada, Akshay was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024. Akshay also holds two master’s degrees: a master’s in Corporate and Financial Law from Jindal Global Law School, India, and a master’s in Canadian Common Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Akshay acts for individuals, corporations, and not-for-profit/charitable organizations in a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including business structuring, company formation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and contract drafting, review, and negotiation. He works closely with clients to address legal matters, providing end-to-end support throughout the entire business lifecycle. Akshay ensures his clients receive the strategic counsel they need to navigate legal issues, make informed decisions, and position themselves for long-term and sustainable success.

Prior to moving to Canada, Akshay worked as an Associate in the Corporate Practice at a leading law firm in India, where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, debt finance, and real estate transactions. As part of his licensing process in Canada, Akshay worked at a leading telecom company, further refining his legal expertise in the Canadian market.

Akshay is committed to helping his clients transform their vision into reality and succeed in their business endeavours. He is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi, which enables him to provide clear and effective legal counsel to clients from diverse backgrounds.

Akshay is an active member of several professional organizations, including the South Asian Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association (CBA)/Ontario Bar Association (OBA), the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL) and the NCA Network.

Outside of his legal practice, Akshay enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing and watching sports, binge-watching television shows, listening to podcasts, and maintaining an active lifestyle at the gym.
